3rd annual Carboard Canoe

My group named fire and ice did a really goood job at working and working together. We were building at a fast paste. Our boat did last a while but then it sunk. We should have put more laires of carboard. It was really fun and im very happy that i attended the 3rd annual Carboard Canoe !!!!!!!!!!!!! and attending this engineering class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are the achievements we earned
Define the Problem and Brainstorm Solutions - State the problem you are designing a solution for. List at least 20 ideas you have regarding your solution.  We should have put more lairs of carboard for our canoe
Criteria & Constraints - List or reference the specified Criteria and Constraints you're designing for. List at least one implied criteria. List at least three implied contsraints.
Sketch Ideas - Draw 3 different sketches for possible designs. Label at least 3 key features for each sketch. Describe the feature's functionality so a viewer understands why the called out feature is important.

Prototype Ideas - Craft physical prototypes (models) of each of your three sketches. Use a notecard or post it note to call out at least one key feature on each model. Post the images to your blog and describe the key feature that you've pointed out on each.
Select an Approach - Generate feedback (+, change, ?, !) and make a decision matrix regarding your sketches/prototypes. Specify the approach you've chosen and justify your selection.
Build Achievements:Build It! - Build your watercraft. Document it with a presentable photo.
The Early Bird Gets the Achievement - Awarded to the team with the fastest build.

Reflection Achievements:Feedback - Generate ten items of feedback for your effort (from the design/build process and/or the actual product). Make sure you include at least one item of feedaback in each of our four feedback areas (+, change, ?, !) We were able to finish first. I will put more laires for the carboard canoe. I was wondering how are canoe sunk if it was such a great design thats what everyone saying.
How Low Did You Go? - How low in the water did your canoe sit (roughly)? Was it suprising how little your boat went down in the water? What is the unit weight of water in pounds? How much did your pilot weigh (roughly)? Use math to help explain the depth that your boat sat in the water.
Our boat was still for a while for 5 seconds at least but then it started to sink and bend.
Redesign - If we were to do another Carboard Canoe race next semester, what would you build? Draw from everything you experienced in your class and propose the most competative solution. Include a sketch with key features and dimensions labeled. I wouldve done the same design but i would put more laires next time.
(Make Your Own Achievement) - Make an achievement of your own design that you can award yourself for something awesome your team did. (Example "Transformer" - although our canoe sunk, our team was able to convert it into a surfboard style design and continue competeting!)
Our canoe did sink but our team was the team that helped each other we worked all together. Even though Jessi was using the computer and not doing physical work he looked up information for our canoe. We all worked together and finished first.

Mousetrap car

Here are some pictures of the car that the team Under The Table designed and built.

Here are the Achievements that me and Max accomplsished during this project.

"Build It" - Build your design. Document it with a photo.
Our team was able to build and complete our mousetrap car race. As you can see in the last picture there is a model of the car. The second picture shows the complete car with the mousetrap and we were able to start it.

"The Price of Glory" - If each part you use costs $1, generate a total cost for your build (This info will be used to generate "cost" data to add a pricing element to the game next year).

Our team ended up using 23 parts for the car which means we would have used 23 dollars to complete the car. Most of the pieces wed used were small.

"Competitor" - Compete in the 2nd Annual Mousetrap Racecar Challenge.
Our team did end up competing and our car distance came in third and the same for acceleration. Its a shame that there was not an achievement for coming in third. At least our car was able to come in the final for acceleration.

"Feedback" - Collect feedback (at least one each of +, change, ? and !) from yourself or your classmates.
Everyone did mention that our car did well because most of the class that our team was not going to be able to even start the car. At first we werent able to start the car and we asked ourselves how we can start the car. We ended up putting a longer lever and we did get our car started. Our car would go to the right instead of straight. The wheel and axle would not stay still bu we cahnged that.

"Re-work" - Change your build based on your experience with the race/feedback you collected. Document any changes.
Our axle would not rotate in order for our car to travel distance and speed. We hadd some trouble starting our car but we were able to start with the information we had
"Game Changer" - Develop a new rule or change to the game that you feel would make the event better. Explain your concept.
I wouldve changed a rule for acceleration. Instead of racing two squares we shouldve probably raced with four or five because there were some matches that were close.

Clean Up Stage:"Leave It Cleaner Than You Found It" - Did you leave your workspace cleaner than you found it? Explain
I cleaned up for my car only on the last day because Max wasnt here. I also on the ground if ther were any leftover pieces ND THE TAPE THAT WERE ON THE MATERIALS I MADE SURE THEY WERE OFF.

Reflection Stage:"Design/Build" - What is a "Design/Build" process? How did your experience with this challenge relate to that? Why might you experience this in a career related to technical innovation?
A design build proccess is when you come up with an idea write it down and then you try to build it or build it. We had to make scketches of the car and put it up to the test and buld the carand make sure it works. You will have to design a lot of things for your life and you have to build those things and make sure what you build works.

what is positive about this video is it shows all the goood things about an app named khandroid for the android which can help with a lot of stuff like math. what i would change is the person has to mention all the negative things. what works well for me in this video is i can use this app for help for example math, english, engineering and more. what i would is mentioning the negative things so the person can know and then the person wont use it. in my opinion maybe you can use fliping the classroom so other people can understand.

plane

1. the people that i worked with was daniel, and ian. what i build was a plane.
we tested our aircraft when it was done outside and it broke so we had to fix it
our aircraft flew perfect outside when we practiced but when it came to our competition it didn't fly as good when we tested it.
in the competition we didn't win anything and our group was thinking about designing our plane but we forgot
one of the three steps we used was to brainstorm ideas to make our plane fly better. the secon one was that we used directions from the paper. the third is we got information when we tested our and we used that information to try to make our plane fly better

moneyball ques.

1.       The moneyball approach that billy and pete tried to get into was they tried to win the championship with a very poor team. I think that billy used both art science because billy had to use courage and a lot of thinking and for science he had to use a lot of math. The statistic they use was they look at the percentages of the players
2.
This is the formula that you use for obp
3.       Design is a creative type of thinking. Ideas that is never wrong. To plan and fashion artistically or skillfully.
4.       1 billy beane followed step 1 by defining the problem and the problem was that they lost their best 3 players and they had to figure out how to replace the players
2 billy beane and pet5e had to brainstorm ideas how to fill in their best players
3 billy and pete had to research a lot of players that are good that no other team knows
5.       1 alignment they had to organize the team in order for the team in order for the team can be good
2 commitment when they were sticking with the plan even if it was not working at first
3 direction billy had to direct the coach to put the players where they had to play and he had to direct the team also.
6.       1 billy had to organize the team the right way
2 billy had to direct the team positive in order for the team to think positive
3 pete had to direct billy the players that were good and pete had to convince him
7.       Their winning streak was 68:51
8.       The ratio is .57
9.       Their winning streak was 20 wins in a row
10.   68:51 = .57 .57 ^ 20 = .0013 percent
68+51
11.   I think the As got lucky because it would have taken years to do that winning streak
12.   1 billy used science for the base average and the batting and he had to use a lot of math with decimals and percentages and he also had to keep track of all the money
2 he did use a lot of art by using his skills and it took  him a lot of courage cause it was a risk to do this

future car

1.    The future car is environmental and reliable practical and safe the car also store energy in small place. I think they focus the car needs only need energy the tank and you don’t need gas.

2.       1.  Hydrogen instead of gas                2. Energy instead of gas

engineering ground zero

1.       The type of construction work featured in this video is they are going to try to build one of the most of the biggest building.    They are going to use concrete glass and steel to make is stronger than before.

2.       The aspect that I like is that they are going to build a memorial the spot where the twin towers were at and the reason why they are going to build a memorial were the twin towers were is the honor for the people that died in 9/11 that got killed by tourists.
