Marble sorter

In this activity the students of principles of engineering were assigned a task to sort marbles into three different groups. Metal, wood and clear.

Achievements:
1) Organize it!
2) I've Made a Few Special Modifications...
* Added a fan to push wooden marbles
* Constructed a new hopper
* Disassembled sorter and rebuilt it with many support improvements
3) Reflection
+ : Creative solutions, results fulfill problem statement
- : Teamwork, only a couple of our members were constantly working (together)
? : Next time we need to improve our teamwork, and procrastinate less (and work on focus)
! : Why not have the entire class as one group and make them sort ten different kinds of marbles?
4) Process 15 marbles in less than 30 seconds. (6 to 10 seconds)
5) Marble Delivery
6) Drop marbles from 2 feet above machine
7) Used at least one motor

Here is our marble sorter.

This would catch the marbles and every one thought this would accomplish six feet but we were only able to do two feet.

Here is our complete marble sorter we got the three kinds if marble sorted. One group was 5 metal. Second group was 5 wood. The last set of marbles were clear marbles. We did the two feet challenge.

This was an awesome experience and I have always loved to these type of projects in engineering.

Activity 3.1.7

In this activity students were given the oppurnity to choose two projects and see if the students were able to handle the task.

My group chose the projects number 1 which was the start/finish line and project number 5 which was the elevator. The elevator was the hardest project for us all, we used 41 cords that took us half a normal period to get all these cords. we had to use vey difficult program but we worked as a team and we were able to accomplish this exciting project.

Here are some pictures for bot projects.

Project 1

Project 5

You can tell how difficult this project was by looking at all these cables.

This program was not as fun to produce as i thought it would be but felt proud when completed.

Activity 3.1.5 Variable Functions

In this activity we were assigned an activity using variables and we did all this work with a Robo Pro Controller.

Activity 3.1.1 Inputs and Outputs

In this assignment our group was assigned 20 problems about. Students used their robotic skills and a computer to solve this exciting assignment.

Leadership

Here is the information I wrote down about my opinions of leadership.

Its really difficult to see but what i said was there are many ways to be a leader in a good way or a bad way.
A leader would inspire their nation or their people and help them. We can think if a leader is bad leader or a good leader, for example i thought Hitler was a bad leader because the things he did but for example his people thought that he was a hero. Leaders would do anything to make their people like them.

here is the information that people influenced me. In the bottom it says how an orphanage kid influenced me for loving his new family that cared for him.

3rd annual Carboard Canoe

My group named fire and ice did a really goood job at working and working together. We were building at a fast paste. Our boat did last a while but then it sunk. We should have put more laires of carboard. It was really fun and im very happy that i attended the 3rd annual Carboard Canoe !!!!!!!!!!!!! and attending this engineering class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are the achievements we earned
• Define the Problem and Brainstorm Solutions - State the problem you are designing a solution for. List at least 20 ideas you have regarding your solution.  We should have put more lairs of carboard for our canoe
• Criteria & Constraints - List or reference the specified Criteria and Constraints you're designing for. List at least one implied criteria. List at least three implied contsraints.
• Sketch Ideas - Draw 3 different sketches for possible designs. Label at least 3 key features for each sketch. Describe the feature's functionality so a viewer understands why the called out feature is important.

• Prototype Ideas - Craft physical prototypes (models) of each of your three sketches. Use a notecard or post it note to call out at least one key feature on each model. Post the images to your blog and describe the key feature that you've pointed out on each.
• Select an Approach - Generate feedback (+, change, ?, !) and make a decision matrix regarding your sketches/prototypes. Specify the approach you've chosen and justify your selection.
Build Achievements:• Build It! - Build your watercraft. Document it with a presentable photo.
• The Early Bird Gets the Achievement - Awarded to the team with the fastest build.

Reflection Achievements:• Feedback - Generate ten items of feedback for your effort (from the design/build process and/or the actual product). Make sure you include at least one item of feedaback in each of our four feedback areas (+, change, ?, !) We were able to finish first. I will put more laires for the carboard canoe. I was wondering how are canoe sunk if it was such a great design thats what everyone saying.
• How Low Did You Go? - How low in the water did your canoe sit (roughly)? Was it suprising how little your boat went down in the water? What is the unit weight of water in pounds? How much did your pilot weigh (roughly)? Use math to help explain the depth that your boat sat in the water.
Our boat was still for a while for 5 seconds at least but then it started to sink and bend.
• Redesign - If we were to do another Carboard Canoe race next semester, what would you build? Draw from everything you experienced in your class and propose the most competative solution. Include a sketch with key features and dimensions labeled. I wouldve done the same design but i would put more laires next time.
• (Make Your Own Achievement) - Make an achievement of your own design that you can award yourself for something awesome your team did. (Example "Transformer" - although our canoe sunk, our team was able to convert it into a surfboard style design and continue competeting!)
Our canoe did sink but our team was the team that helped each other we worked all together. Even though Jessi was using the computer and not doing physical work he looked up information for our canoe. We all worked together and finished first.
